Wheat...West coast wheat prices were reflective of gains across the
futures complex in early-week trade, with advances posted for all three
classes. Old crop premiums to new crop continue to erode, with white
wheat now even with new crop prices, hard red winter showing a premium
to new crop and hard red spring at a carry to new crop months.
Crop Progress...USDA reported the three-state weighted winter wheat
index improved to 99% of average last week, coming mainly from a better
assessment out of Washington. Good to excellent ratings for Washington
jumped 12% to 74%, while Idaho ratings for that category slipped by 8%
to 53% and Oregon was down 3% to 65%.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed 16.8 mb of wheat moved
off U.S. ports last week, which puts the year-to-date shipment totals
slightly below a year ago. Top shippper was white wheat with 4.6 mb,
followed by hard red spring at 4.5 mb and hard red winter registered a
total of 4.2 mb. Top destination off PNW ports was the Philippines at
3.9 mb, with China and South Korea both taking 2.5 mb.
