Material Handler

Report to: Outside Operations Supervisor/Production Manager
Status: Non-exempt
Wage: $19.00/hr

Position Summary:

The Material Handler is knowledgeable in all aspects of corn receiving and finished product load-out. The Material Handler understands the shipping schedule works with the Outside Ops Supervisor and Production Manager to ensure that the schedule is met, and driver wait time is minimized. This position is a QI for FSMA purposes.

Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities and Regular Duties Include:

Product Load-Out

  • The Loader is responsible for inspection and loading bulk trailers and rail cars.
  • Verify and process all shipping papers (Inspections, BOL’s/COA’s) that go with all outgoing trucks and railcars.
  • Inspection, set-up, loading, fumigation (if needed) and sealing of loaded rail cars.
  • Maintain & clean load out bay & train sheds.

Corn Receiving

  • Responsible for incoming corn logistics, unloading.
  • Responsible for correct probing and sampling of all incoming corn deliveries to ensure acceptance of stated incoming corn requirements.
  • Manages the daily physical inventory process, maintains corn grading documentation, and distributes to proper personnel.

Employee Development and Training

  • Assists the Plant/Technical, SQR and Production Managers with new employee training, specifically new loader training.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Performs miscellaneous duties, as assigned.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in high places.

Physical Demands

  • Activities include walking, climbing, squatting, lifting up to 50lbs., bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and other movements associated with working in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to work off-shifts.

Work Conditions

  • Work is in the plant and outside, as needed.
  • The workweek is Monday-Friday, 8-hour days.
  • Additional hours beyond the standard workweek may be necessary.
  • Must be able to work in high locations without fear.
