Iowa Corn Processors is a full service dry corn mill located in the heart of the corn belt in Glidden, Iowa. Family owned and operated, Iowa Corn Processors produces a full line of quality products including grits, meals and flour, servicing the brewing, snack food, ready to eat breakfast cereal and batter and breading industries.

Iowa Corn Processors’ newest mill, commissioned in 2014, employs a patented, state-of-the-art process and the Company prides itself on being the only unique milling process in the industry. With our philosophy of constant innovation and one-of-a-kind method, we accomplish an extremely efficient germ and bran removal at the very beginning. This ensures a yield of low fat, low fiber products that leads the world in its efficiency and performance.

Position Summary

The Miller is knowledgeable in all aspects of the operation. The Miller understands the production schedule and communicates with the Production Manager and/or Head Miller on their shift in order to meet the schedule while achieving the highest possible yield and efficiency. The individual operates the mill(s) and accomplishes the myriad responsibilities that entails to the best of their ability. This position is a QI for FSMA purposes.

Essential Job Functions

Plant Operation

  • Makes hourly rounds through the mill to ensure smooth equipment and process operation.
  • Collects and analyzes in-process samples of finished goods to ensure compliance.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets mill streams to optimize yield and performance.
  • Troubleshoots issues, helps identify and eliminate downtime sources.
  • Uses automatic logging systems (Mill Log, Lab Log, Sanitation Log, etc.) to document shift events.
  • Complies with and enforces company policies.
  • Receives directions from the Head Miller and communicates regularly.
  • Completes cleaning/sanitation tasks throughout the facility.
  • Suggests operational improvements.
  • Assists in daily operational functions as needed.

Employee Development and Training

  • Assists managers with new employee training, specifically miller training.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

  • Strong work ethic and drive to excel.

  • Critical thinking skills for plant operations.
  • At least one year of plant operations knowledge/experience (or equivalent).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional and productive interaction with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage priorities independently.

Physical Demands

  • Walking, climbing, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, etc.
  • Ability to work off-shifts.

Work Conditions

  • Work in the mill and outdoors as needed.
  • Monday–Friday, 8-hour days.
  • Additional hours may be necessary.
